Foo Fighters Promoter Responds To AJ Maddah’s Adelaide Comments

Frontier Touring have responded to Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah’s recent criticism of the Foo Fighters show in Adelaide, rejecting his claims that ticket prices were reduced to incentivise sales.

As a response to recent comments about Adelaide’s struggling music scene, Dave Grohl spoke out during the Foos’ Adelaide show, launching into their hit Times Like These by saying, “This is for all those promoters who think Adelaide doesn’t have a fucking rock scene.”

Maddah replied to that on Twitter by claiming that Frontier Touring had given “away a lot of tickets, sold some at $50 to fill venue & get Dave his bragging rights!” He also wrote, “There’s always good numbers in safe radio rock and the middle of the road.” Today Frontier have issued a statement denying Maddah’s claims.

“Frontier can confirm no $50 tickets were sold for the Foo Fighters in Adelaide. There was also definitely no need to paper the gig with comp tickets. The event was a massive success attendance wise and Frontier couldn’t be happier with the result. It was great to see Adelaide out in force enjoying a night of awesome rock with the Foo Fighters, Rise Against and The Delta Riggs.”

Maddah has long been talking about his struggles with ticket sales in Adelaide, already confirming that his flagship festival Soundwave will not return there in the foreseeable future. “Sadly I can’t afford another bad year. Would break festival. Maybe in a few years we can try again,” he tweeted previously.

Music Feeds has contacted AJ Maddah for comment.
