Foo Fighters + Rick Springfield Do A Song For Sound City Doco

They might be about to take a pretty big break, but that hasn’t stopped the Foo Fighters writing a song with Rick Springfield.

Triple M reports that the song – titled The Man Who Never Was – has been recorded for frontman Dave Grohl’s new music documentary Sound City, which focuses on the famous Sound City recording studio in LA.

Springfield recorded his famous 1981 chart-topping album Working Class Dog at the studios, which featured his hit single Jessie’s Girl.

“It was a great experience to get together with those guys ’cause they’re great musicians and I love their writing,” Springfield told Billboard.

“And to actually write a song with them was fun.”

Springield said he was looking forward to seeing the Sound City doco when it was finished.

“Dave’s one of those guys with a deep musical history and really knows what happened (at Sound City),” he said.

“It’s going to be big. He’s got all these grand ideas, and he’s got the power now to do that kind of stuff. I think it’s a great idea.”

Sound City was also where Grohl’s old band – Nirvana – recorded their seminal 1991 album Nevermind. More info on the project is available at www.soundcitymovie.com.
