Having only recently returned to the global music scene, Franz Ferdinand’s Nick McCarthy has announced his new musical outlet – The Nice Nice Boys. McCarthy has teamed up with Andy Knowles and rapper Marvellous Macc Mello to produce a surprisingly funky track.
According to NME, “The pair met at Glasgow School of Art in 2001 and hit the road together in Franz Ferdinand, with Knowles acting as an extra touring musician”. Lyrically, it’s actually pretty sweet with multiple pop-culture references to ‘The Stig’, but then Mr. Marvellous Macc Mello goes and ruins it, whipping out some lyrics that possibly even 50 Cent wound turn down.
In other Franz news, the band debuted four new tracks at the Parklife festival (the UK one) and have plans to release their album in the coming months. Yay. Anyway, listen to the new track below, but don’t expect triumphant choruses like Franz produce.
