Scotland’s favourite sons Frightened Rabbit are making the most of their return Down Under for Laneway Festival next year, sidetracking from the boutique event to headline their own run of tour dates in Sydney and Melbourne.
It’s clear that Frightened Rabbit have a soft spot for Aussies, and the feeling is obviously returned given that the band will be returning relatively hot off the heels of their previous Australian festival experience – Groovin The Moo 2013. Their current album Pedestrian Verse managed to climb charts both here and abroad, landing with in the top 10 on the UK Album Chart.
Along with Groovin The Moo, Frightened Rabbit have made their way down for Woodford Folk, Pyramid Rock, Peats Ridge and Splendour in the Grass so they’re definitely an authority on touring Australia’s festivals. Come Laneway 2014, these cats are going to know exactly what they’re going as they unravel their internationally applauded live show.
Tickets go on sale next Wednesday, 30th October at 9am!
UPDATE: Sydney’s own Gang Of Youths have been announced as the support band for Frightened Rabbit on their upcoming Australian tour. Crafting a deeply intimate yet epic-sounding brand of indie rock, which the boys themselves like to call “emotional-ass, ten track concept rock,” these guys have quickly generated a big buzz for themselves.
The band is already slated to support Vampire Weekend for their Aussie trek and have just returned from a string of US dates. With such a mega schedule already lined up for 2014, it seems we’ll be hearing a lot more from these guys in the future.
