Garbage Announce ‘Strange Little Birds’, Their First New Album In Four Years

Garbage have announced the tracklist and release date of their new album, Strange Little Birds.

The cool AF American-Scottish alt rock band’s sixth studio, a follow up to 2012’s Not Your Kind Of People, will drop on Friday 10 June with a European tour slated for May, June and August.

Speaking about the album, kickass frontwoman Shirley Manson says, “The guiding principle was keeping it fresh, and relying on instinct both lyrically and musically” adding that Strange Little Birds is “less fussed over” than anything Garbage has out out before.

“To me, this record, funnily enough, has the most to do with the first record, rather than any of the previous records,” she says. “It’s getting back to that beginner’s headspace. In part, that’s a result of not having anyone to answer to.”

“We fell in love with immediacy,” drummer Vig adds.

It’s been a looong wait for fans after the rumour of a 2014 album release never came to fruition. But since Not Your Kind Of People, Garbage have been touring extensively, recording songs with Distillers’ Brody Dalle and making news penning angry open letters to Kanye West. Fingers crossed they make it down under soon.

We’re very excited to officially announce our new album Strange Little Birds will be released on June 10th,... Posted by Garbage on Thursday, 10 March 2016
