With Brisbane and Queensland currently in a State Of Disaster due to massive flooding, Big Day Out organisers have come out today and said that not only will the Gold Coast event be going ahead but that they will be donating $20,000 from the proceeds of the January shows to the Queensland flood relief.
Having been spared the brunt of the heavy rains, the Gold Coast site is in good condition, the construction having gone ahead on time this morning. With certain elements and resources having to be redirected due to road closures, the show is still expected to go ahead as scheduled on the 23rd of January, with the essential elements of the show being put into place today.
