Grand Theft Auto V Actor Claims He Knocked Out Ice Cube

Actor Shawn Fonteno, best known as Franklin in the recently released video game Grand Theft Auto V, has disclosed the details of an encounter with rapper Ice Cube in the 90s, in which Fonteno allegedly knocked out the famous rapper.

The altercation between the two is apparently a well-known piece of hip-hop mythology to those in the know, occurring in the midst of a feud between the former N.W.A. member and hip-hop trio Cypress Hill, with whom Fonteno was affiliated.

In a documentary chronicling famous hip-hop beefs, Fontento, who at the time was known in the hip-hop world as Solo, describes the fight as part of a larger business dispute between himself, rapper Cam and Ice Cube.

The three men met at an LA traffic light, when Ice Cube started a physical altercation. “I knocked him down, knocked him out,” said Fonteno. “Somehow his chain fell in my hand? I don’t know how it got in my hand…then all of a sudden his Rolex started jumping off and coming into my hand.”

Fonteno then wore Cube’s famous Westside Connection chain to a Cypress Hill gig at LA’s House of Blues that night. The feud has since come to a conclusion, with Fonteno telling TMZ “We both hustlers homie, it is what is, you know what I’m sayin’?”
