Grimes Is The Ultimate Grinch In Her New Home-Made Christmas Song

While the rest of us spent Christmas Day overeating and making small talk with family members, Canadian musician Grimes, real name Claire Boucher, used the day for other creative endeavours, teaming up with her stepbrother Jay Worthy to create the track and home-made video for Christmas Song II (Grinch).

Serving as a follow up to Christmas Song, a bonus track on the iTunes release of Visions, Christmas Song II features Jay Worthy rapping, while Grimes riffs verses from ’Twas The Night Before Christmas, whilst repeating the phrase, “I’m the Grinch motherfucker.”

According to Stereogum, the track includes a spoken word outro which features some text from Amy Pascal’s emails from the Sony leak. The accompanying home-made video shows Grimes wieldig an axe and periodically wearing a gas mask she presumably had lying around at home.

In a message posted to Tumblr Grimes writes that she likes to release some sort of new material between long album cycles and notes that this particular song was made in about two hours and is not mixed or mastered.

“Me and my step bro jay worthy make an annual christmas song with our siblings in order to avoid obligatory dinner,” she writes. “This is NOT a single from the upcoming album, not a serious piece of art in any capacity and not an official grimes release.”
