Gurrumul & Baker Boy Lead 2018 National Indigenous Music Awards Winners

The 15th National Indigenous Music Awards ceremony took place over the weekend at Darwin’s Ampitheatre, with Gurrumul and Baker Boy winning the most awards of the night.

Gurrumul posthumously won ‘Artist of the Year’, as well as ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Song of the Year’ for Djarimirri (Child of the Rainbow) and its title track respectively.

Newcomer Baker Boy also celebrated a huge night, taking home the ‘Best New Talent’ award, presented by Spotify, and ‘Best Music Video’ for ‘Marryuna’.

Performances of the night included Alice Skye, Kasey Chambers and Alan Pigram, Busby Marou, along with a ripper closing performance of ‘Marryuna’ by Baker Boy and Yirrmal.
