Hacktivist Part Ways With Founding Guitarist Timfy James

UK grime-metal masters Hacktivist are down a guitarist, with founding member Timfy James deciding to call time on his career with the band.

In an emotional statement confirming the split, James made it clear that he was leaving his “brothers” on good terms.

“I’m very sad to say that I have made the decision to leave Hacktivist,” he says. “I’ve had an amazing six years touring the world with my brothers and I wish them all the luck moving forward.

“I also want to thank all of the fans that have supported us this far, without you guys none of this would have been possible,” he continues. “I have every confidence that the band will continue to inspire and push the boundaries of modern music for many more years to come.”

James will play a final run of dates with Hacktivist including a headline show in the band’s hometown of Milton Keynes before bidding farewell to the band.

“We’re sad to see Timfy’s time with Hacktivist has come to an end, but we wish the best of luck with his future plans,” says bassist Josh Gurner. “We want to thank him profusely for the blood, sweat and tears he has put into the band over the past seven years.

“Timfy has been a driving force in defining the Hacktivist sound, but his departure brings with it the dawn of new ideas and forward thinking. None of this year’s shows will be cancelled, and you will be hearing from us soon with fresh new music.”

Hacktivist will announce James’ replacement following their final run of show.

The band last toured Australia in 2016 with Enter Shikari and their most recent album was 2016’s Over-Throne.
