Bring Me The Horizon are back Down Under and ready to bring the metalcore arena rock to hordes of fans’ who missed out on seeing them live during their 2016 tour due to frontman Oli Sykes’ dodgy health.
Prior to their first make-up performance at Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena tonight, Sykes hit the decks at Melbourne’s Bang! nightclub last night to spin some tunes in front of a sold-out, lit AF crowd at the rescheduled tour’s official pre-party.
Support band Isotopes report that most other members of BMTH were also in the building for the bash, including keysman/producer Jordan Fish, and after a shaky start where DJ Syko seemingly had to be shown how to operate the console, the throat-tearing frontman soon had the crowd losing there minds with a bit of DJ Snake and Lil John’s Turn Down For What.
“A phenomenal night filled with crowd surfing, sitting on random people’s shoulders and being eye level with Oli,” one punter recounts on Instagram (below). “The bands beforehand were amazing… if you don’t leave a mosh pit covered in other people’s sweat, beer and having been punched in the face, you weren’t really in a mosh pit.”
Taking to Insty after the set, Sykes was grateful and self-depreciating about the whole experience, even managing a sly little dig at a certain electro house DJ who most definitely should not remix anymore Blink-182 songs in the process.
“Melbourne although I have the dj skills of Steve Aoki that was so sick, thanks for having me!” Sykes writes.
