Hilarious Twitter Account Turns Your Favourite Soundwave Band’s Lyrics Into Spongebob Memes

A new Twitter account has been spawned with the sole purpose of mashing up punk rock lyrics with screenshots from the hit Nickelodeon kids’ TV series Spongebob Squarepants because the internet.

And let’s face it, as far as Nick-toons go, Spongebob is pretty badass. The titular sponge shuns authority, wears a necktie ironically and is a fierce individualist – why else would he choose to live in a fucking pineapple under the sea?

The point is, the whole thing makes perfect sense and is a legitimate form of artistic expression.

Twitter user ‘Punk Spongebob Edits’ has been taking lyrics from some of your favourite punk, rock and hardcore bands – many of whom are Soundwave alumni – and immortalising them with hilariously appropriate screen grabs from the animated underwater comedy series.

Some of the artistic masterpieces posted so far include lyrics from recently announced Soundwave 2016 acts Bring Me The Horizon and Moose Blood, along with former acts on the heavy music festival’s honour roll such as Blink-182, Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Sum 41, Gerard Way, Taking Back Sunday, A Day To Remember, All Time Low and The Story So Far.
