Hilltop Hoods Want To Give $10,000 To An Emerging Hip Hop Artist

Hilltop Hoods have announced the return of their HTH Initiative, which, in collaboration with APRA AMCOS, awards an emerging Australian hip-hop or soul artist a $10,000 grant to help them manufacture, release, and market their debut album.

Continuing as they have done for the last few years, the Hoods will offer the grant to artists around Australia who haven’t previously released an album professionally. They’ll also need to be members of APRA AMCOS.

On top of the funds, the grant recipient will also receive legal advice from Media Arts Lawyers and a Zoo York prize. Applications will open on Tuesday, 20th January 2015 and entries will be judged by a panel of influential Australian hip hop figures.

They include Koolism’s Hau, who presents triple J’s The Hip Hop Show, graffiti artist and indigenous community worker Nish, promoter and booking agent Ran-Dee, artist and Blank Clothing owner Raph, and Brisbane’s talented hip-hop renaissance man Tommy Illfigg.

Previous grant winners include Jimblah, Chelsea Jane, I AM D and RUNFORYOURLIFE. Further details on how to apply will be available on the APRA AMCOS website in the new year.
