Iggy Pop To Reunite With The Stooges For 2010!

Written by Jesse Hayward on November 4, 2009

Iggy Pop has said he will reunite with The Stooges in 2010 for a full tour.

After nearly 30 years, guitarist James Williamson (who played on Raw Power and a lot of Iggy’s solo stuff) will rejoin the band for the tour. The Stooges’ original guitarist Ron Asheton, was found in his bed in January this year, dead of an apparent heart attack.

Said Iggy, “we’re all very sorry about Ron, his spirit within the group remains with the rest of us and he is still a presence within the group without being on the physical plane.” Sonic Youth’s album The Eternal is dedicated to Asheton.

“The band have been rehearsing more without me than with me because I’ve been doing other things this year,” he said. “But we have been rehearsing all together more recently. We’re going to be doing a one-off show in Brazil in a few weeks but the real touring starts next year.”

Music Feeds will keep you posted as more information comes to hand. Hopefully we’ll see an Australasian tour leg. Iggy Pop! Damn!
