Inca Roads Music Festival Cancelled For 2015

Just weeks before it was scheduled to kick off, organisers have announced the cancellation of the Inca Roads Music Festival 2015.

In a statement announcing the “devastating” and “extremely saddening” news this morning, co-Founder and Director Daniel Camilleri cited insufficient interest and membership sales for the 2015 festival and its not-for-profit organisation as reasons for the event’s cancellation.

“This is extremely saddening. For our team, you the bands, the people who have supported Inca and made it their favourite little festival,” he said. “Ultimately we do this for the love of it, as volunteers, solely to provide an incredible weekend of Australian and Melbourne music for those people that care.”

Inca Roads was due to take place from March 20th-22nd in the Greater Ballarat Region with a lineup that included The Harpoons, The Cactus Channel, Scotdrakula, Geoffrey O’Connor and more. The boutique non-for-profit event had a capacity of just 650 people in 2015 and as always sought to celebrate the talent of local musicians.

In his statement, Camilleri also cited ongoing “challenges” with local councils and VCAT over the years. “People take for granted the incredible the amount of creative talent Melbourne and Australia has to offer,” he said. “Go out and see a show, spend a few dollars on an EP and support the industry that makes this city and country so amazing.”

Refunds for those who purchased tickets to the festival will be issued on Friday.
