Indonesian Band Pull Out Of Perth Metal Festival Over “Political Issues”

Indonesian power metal band Lord Symphony have cancelled their appearance at Perth’s Stormrider Heavy Metal Festival this month, citing “political issues” as a reason for their withdrawal.

The band issued a short video statement apologising for their cancellation. “Unfortunately, we are very sorry and sad [that due to] political issues and other circumstances, we cannot join and participate,” they said.

Lord Symphony added that they hope to make it up to fans and “someday participate in some other occasion”. The band did not delve into the exact “political” reasons cited, or whether it has anything to do with Australia’s relationship with Indonesia following the execution of convicted Bali Nine drug smuggles Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran.

Festival organisers did mention that “visas” were also an issue for the band.

Stormrider Festival said that they won’t be announcing a replacement for Lord Symphony and will instead extend the sets of the local Perth bands who are opening the show.

Stormrider Heavy Metal Festival will take place on May 23rd at Perth’s Civic Hotel. Other acts on the lineup include Australiam melodic metal act LORD, Perth’s Silent Knight, Melbourne’s Harlott and more.
