INXS guitarist Tim Farriss has reportedly suffered a severe hand injury following a recent boating accident, leaving his ability to play guitar in question.
The INXS guitarist reportedly mangled his left hand and severed his ring finger while working on a boat near his home on Sydney’s northern beaches on the morning of Saturday January 24th, reports News.com.au.
According to the publication, the 57-year-old Farriss brother underwent two operations last week, including emergency microsurgery, at the Royal North Shore hospital. The finger was reattached after a six-hour operation and he is reportedly expected to undergo physiotherapy over the next year.
News.com.au report that Farriss revealed the extent of his injury in an email to his band mates and manager Chris Murphy, saying that, “I don’t know if I will be able to play properly again.”
“Tim is now home from the hospital with his family and undergoing physiotherapy as part of the recovery process,” Murphy told the publication. “He is getting the best possible care and we hope with time he will regain movement in his finger. This was a terrible accident, we are all here to support him.”
Despite having announced their final performance together in 2012, INXS were the highest selling Australian act last year thanks to the success of 2014’s Never Tear Us Apart miniseries.
