The details of a new covers compilation album paying tribute to modern garage blues master Jack White have been revealed. The album is set to be released later this month and will see artists as diverse as Wanda Jackson and Bobby Vee covering songs from White’s career.
The artists chosen for this special project come from the genres of rock, rockabilly and punk rock, all of which hold a great deal of influence over White. Titled Rockin’ Legends Pay Tribute to Jack White, the cover of In The Cold, Cold Night by Jackson can be heard on Rolling Stone‘s website.
Speaking to Rolling Stone about the project, Jackson said, “When I heard Cold, Cold Night for the first time I knew it was a song that I wanted to record some day. When the opportunity came around to pay tribute to Jack…I thought it was the perfect opportunity to lay it down in the studio.”
