Jack White Jabs Foo Fighters For Clickbait’s Sake

Jack White has taken a cheeky jab at fellow rockers the Foo Fighters, on Foo Fighters Day no less, during a show at Fenway Par, Boston. Filling time while dealing with an equipment failure, White took the moment to educate his audience on the pitfalls of being a solo act without a backing guitarist.

“If you’re the Foo Fighters, or some band like that,” White began, “You have a second guitar player playing the same parts so in case I make a mistake they’re still playing it for you.”

Knowing full well his comments would make headlines, White addressed RollingStone.com directly claiming he likes to help the site out by providing regular “clickbait” for the music outlet, free of charge.

“Something for RollingStone.com for tomorrow. I like to feed them something every day for their clickbait. If everyone could, in this whole stadium, please go to RollingStone.com tomorrow. They’ve paid me zero dollars to plug them so make sure they get at least a million mouse clicks tomorrow.”

In response to White’s comments the Foo Fighters took to Twitter and posted a rather amusing image of a monkey playing the guitar. The photo is accompanied by the caption, “Busted….behold, the secret of the Foo Fighters sound…”

In the aftermath of the White/Foos ‘epic’ back and forth, Nasty Little Man, the publicity firm that reps both acts, released a statement that explicitly notes White was only jesting, “in an effort to keep his audience engaged.”

“Jack has the upmost respect for the Foo Fighters … So if you’ll let us, we’ll all continue with our day and we assure you: All is well in the rock n roll world,” the statement reads.

Dear dream-makers of the media….

Last night Jack White made a joke on stage!

There was a minor equipment mishap, specifically with his guitar, and in an effort to keep his audience engaged, he made a joke! It was meant to be funny and self deprecating: “hey sorry, you’re stuck with just me up here…” vs the Foo Fighters who have three guitar players on stage and regularly play stadium shows.

Jack has the upmost respect for the Foo Fighters and communicated with Grohl this morning.

So if you’ll let us, we’ll all continue with our day and we assure you: All is well in the rock n roll world.
