Jack White Went To His Neighbourhood Street Party And No One Recognised Him

From The White Stripes to his own solo work and side-projects, Jack White has become a deserved household name everywhere. Everywhere except for his own neighbourhood apparently.

As White spends most of the year on the road he doesn’t get much time to mingle with his Nashville neighbours and he’s missed their annual street party time and time again. This year, however, he decided to turn up and apparently nobody knew who he was.

One Instagram user, who’s Mum was at the party, posted a photo with a caption explaining that every year the dead-end street, filled mostly with “older and quiet people,” holds a party and have been doing so for a decade.

“At the bottom of our street, there is a large gated historic home shrouded in trees. We’ve never really spotted that neighbor. But we have from time to time heard guitar coming from the garage,” he wrote referring to White, while also detailing a very Edward Scissorhands-esque plot line.

“This year, without warning, the occupant decided to come mingle with the neighbors. Of course many of them had no idea who he was. ‘Jack White? nice to meet you.'”

Apparently White apologised for not being able to make it to the party over the years. What a man.

It’s amazing that White was even able to fit in the appearance this year. 2015 has been phenomenally busy for him as he’s played Coachella, Bonnaroo and Austin City Limits while he’s also just dropped a record with The Dead Weather.

Still, the neighbourhood might just get used to seeing White at a few more of these shindigs, seeing as he’s announced plans to take a lengthy hiatus from the gigging life, much to the chagrin of his impatient Aussie fans.

This picture is incredible. My sister texted it to me. Listen to this. My mom helps put on a neighborhood potluck in front of my childhood home. Our little dead-end street is populated primarily with older and quiet people. The houses are modest and suburban. My neighborhood has been doing this potluck for over a decade. He apologized for traveling so much and missing out over the years. #lifeiswonderful ???? by @making_dinner #lookatthesepeople #theyhavenoidea #notelvisdontcare
