James Blunt ‘Quits Music’ Jokes Doing the Rounds

English songman James Blunt is suffering from a bad case of ‘you’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t’. After recently telling The Daily Mail that he had no current plans to continue writing music, the Internet has lit up with numerous jokes berating Blunt as being irrelevant. An easy target when still actively playing music, Blunt’s mother Jane Blount defended her son against critics in January of last year.

“My son James Blunt, who is hugely appreciated worldwide, receives harsh criticism here (in the UK) … We are relieved that on the whole James’ fanbase take no notice of the critics,” Ms Blunt told BBC Radio 4’s Today, according to NME.

Although the You’re Beautiful singer was not quoted by The Daily Mail as saying he was officially retiring, haters have come out in droves to take what they feel will be their last chance to have a shot at Blunt. As compiled by NME, the following is a series of reactions from individuals who aren’t exactly torn up over the news that Blunt won’t be releasing any more music any time soon.

As for Blunt, well he’s probably none too concerned about all the jokes at his expense, having sold a speculated 18 million albums worldwide, mainly coming from his 2005 debut Back to Bedlam, which moved 11 million copies. When speaking to The Daily Mail, Blunt didn’t exactly sound as though he was going home to wallow in self-pity.

“I just want to take some time out for myself,” Blunt told The Daily Mail. “I haven’t got any plans to do more songwriting. I have been chilling out since I finished my world tour and I’ve spent a lot of time in Ibiza, where I have a villa.”

‘Sofia [Blunt’s wife] and I had a great time hanging out with friends on my yacht, but we partied as well,’ Blunt added.

Keep in mind that Music Feeds didn’t write these jokes, we’re just reporting them…
