Jamie xx Australian Tour July 2012

Written by Brayden Darke on June 14, 2012

Following the announcement of The xx’s new album Coexist and their upcoming Australian tour, the trio’s producer Jamie xx will be doing some solo shows while the band is out here. He’ll be playing two shows: one in Melbourne on July 17 and another in Sydney on July 19.

The past two years have been meteoric for Jamie xx (real name Jamie Smith), who has earned a name for himself as one of the world’s hottest producers. In 2011 he crafted the underground hit Far Nearer, as well as collaborating with Gil Scott-Heron on the album We’re New Here (a re-envisioned version of Scott-Heron’s 2010 masterpiece I’m New Here).

Jamie xx has also garnered universal praise for his remixes of Adele and Radiohead, and The xx remix of Florence & The Machine’s You’ve Got The Love was a massive internet sensation.

The xx will be performing at The Forum Theatre in Melbourne on Wednesday, July 18 and The Metro in Sydney on Friday, July 20, 2012. Both of these shows have now sold out.
