What’s better than good times? More good times, and that’s exactly what Jamie xx has given us dropping an extended version of In Colour highlight I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times).
The xx producer spun the track, remixed by Brooklyn producer Dre Skull, live in Los Angeles and some spectacular human being captured it for the rest of us. Young Thug and Popcaan, who already featured on the track, are joined by dancehall artists Assasin, Konshens and Kranium, turning the dancehall dial to 11.
The acapella intro sampling The Persuasions’s Good Times is also extended, before the track drops right into dancehall territory.
Jamie’s label Young Turks took to Twitter following the show to point out that it was in fact the Dre Skull remix of the track and that it was unfinished but ensured that “as soon as it’s done, you’ll hear it.”
The producer was in Australia last year for Falls Festival but he hasn’t been here since the release of his debut solo album. That means he’s probably due a visit very soon.
