Jarryd James Has Surprise Dropped A New EP ‘High’

It’s been less than a year since Brisbane crooner Jarryd James delivered his beautiful debut album Thirty One but he’s already given us more in the form of a new EP.

High features his previously released Broods collaboration 1000x plus five more new tracks that he worked on with a pretty stacked list of collaborators.

He collaborated with Lorde producer Joel Little who also worked on Thirty One, Tobias Jesso Jr. who wrote on Adele’s 25, Rihanna collaborator Mikky Ekko and Andrew Wansel of production duo Pop & Oak.

James has spoken about working with his most diverse mix of producers yet particularly honing in on Pop who has worked with Miguel, Nicki Minaj and Alicia Keys.

“Where Pop’s from, it’s very much that urban sort of stuff, so he brought that,” James said in a statement (via triple j).

“We got this awesome jazz pianist in from Philly, and he played some totally cool stuff. That’s mostly what I listen to, so it makes sense. I really wanna head in that direction.”

As for Ekko, James said that he inspired him while writing Claim My Love.

“We wrote this really cool, organic track. It’s pretty emotional, and I sing a bit differently – that’s a real point of difference on the album,” he said.

The EP will be re-packaged with songs from his debut album for his first US release, taking him one step closer to global domination.
