Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club Shut Down Over Health Fears

The 40/40 nightclub, owned by US hip-hop/rap legend Jay-Z, has been shut down because it has not complied with New York health and safety regulations.

The refrigerator was at a rancid 60 degrees instead of 41 — jeopardizing the safety of 50 pounds of raw chicken wings, five pounds of raw shrimp and 100 turkey burgers, reports the New York Post. Only days before, Jay-Z held an A-list launch party for the newly refurbished building, which has been closed for ten months for a $10 million re-vamp.

The club has now been reopened as all the issues have been resolved, however management of the venue must attend a hearing later this month to explain why the standards were not up to scratch.

Jay-Z‘s wife, Beyonce, recently gave birth to their child, Blue Ivy Carter, who featured in Jay-Z‘s recent release Glory, which climbed the US charts, making Blue Ivy Carter the youngest ever artist on the charts.
