Jet Break Up

Written by John Ritchie on March 27, 2012

Australian band Jet have officially announced the band is breaking up for good, even though we’ve heard nothing from them for a long time anyway.

The band formed in Melbourne in 2001 and their debut album Get Born managed to sell 3.5 million copies worldwide. The biggest tracks from the Get Bornn album were Are You Gonna Be My Girl and Rollover DJ, which became massive radio hits.

However, Pitchfork never approved of the band, their review of Jet’s 2006 album Shine On was given 0.0 and featured a video of a monkey pissing in its own mouth.

The band released a statement on their Facebook page at 7am today:

A Message To Our Fans: After many successful years of writing, recording and touring we wish to announce our discontinuation as a group. From the many pubs, theatres, stadiums and festivals all across the world it was the fans that made our amazing story possible and we wish to thank them all. Thank you, and goodnight.
