Joan As Police Woman To Tour Australia

Statuesque New York singer-songwriter Joan As Police Woman has announced that she will be touring Australia this June in promotion of her new album The Deep Field.

The relatively short eight-date national tour begins in Canberra on June 2 and ends in Perth on June 11.

The Deep Field is the fourth album from Joan As Police Woman – aka Joan Wasser – and was released earlier this year to generally reasonable reviews.

Wasser emerged on the scene with her debut solo album in 2006, entitled Real Life. However, she was a mainstay on the US indie scene throughout the previous decade and was famously Jeff Buckley’s girlfriend  – she still refuses to discuss him in interviews. She first came to prominence as a member of Rufus Wainwright‘s touring band, often opening for him also, while she has also toured with Antony & The Johnsons. She last came to Australia in 2008.

The dates are:

Thursday June 2 – The Street Theatre, Canberra ACT

Friday June 3 – Lizotte’s, Newcastle NSW

Saturday June 4 – Judith Wright Centre, Brisbane QLD

Sunday June 4 – Byron Community Centre NSW

Tuesday June 7 – Governor Hindmarsh Hotel, Adelaide SA

Wednesday June 8 – Athenaeum Theatre, Melbourne VIC

Thursday June 9 – Enmore Theatre, Sydney NSW

Saturday June 11 – Fly By Night, Perth WA
