Joan Jett And Against Me! Cover The Replacements In New York

Written by Kiel Egging on June 10, 2012

Joan Jett once again visited one of her favourite songs to cover – The Replacements’ Androgynous – when she joined Against Me! on stage in New York last night.

She shared vocal duties with Against Me! lead singer Laura Jane Grace – who came out as a transgender to Rolling Stone last month and is currently undertaking hormonal treatment to become a woman. She performed her first show as a transgender with Against! Me in San Diego two weeks ago when the band opened up for UK rockers The Cult.

The song was a bit of a poignant choice as it contained lyrics that celebrate changing gender: including ‘Same hair, revolution/ Unisex, evolution / Tomorrow, who’s gonna fuss’.
