John ‘The Voice’ Farnham Voted Australia’s Best Singer Of All Time

John Farnham has been voted as the greatest Australian singer of all time by a panel of his peers, beating out the likes of AC/DC’s Bon Scott, Michael Hutchence of INXS and his good mate Jimmy Barnes.

As reported by the Herald Sun, the greatest 50 Australian singers of all time list was constructed by a voting panel comprised of over 100 Australian singers and musicians.

As Big Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock frontman Ross Wilson stated, Farnham is more than worthy to top the list:

“Yes, he is The Voice and that frickin’ TV show full of wannabes ought to find a new name and restore his title.”

Other names of interest high up in the list are Sia at number 8 while Neil and Tim Finn closed out the top 10, forcing Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns down to number 11. Following Johns are The Bee Gees, whose temporary status as Australian residents was apparently enough for the selection criteria.

Olivia Newton-John seems pretty low at 36 and people will probably be mad that Nick Cave only just snuck into the top 20 at 17. A shout out to Katie Noonan at 19 for those who fondly recall George.
