Jordan Duffy Pleads Guilty To Supplying Fatal Drug Overdose At Sydney Music Event

19-year old man Jordan Duffy today pleaded guilty to supplying his 21 year-old girlfriend Janie Panton Roberts with a fatal dose of MDMA.

Duffy was charged with several drug offenses in September in connection to the death of Roberts on Sunday, 4th June.

Police report that Mr Duffy gave Ms Roberts the drugs at a music event in Petersham, after which they went to a house in Marrickville.

Ms Roberts became ill the next morning and paramedics were called just after 8:30am, but she had died before they arrived on the scene.

Fairfax Media reports that Mr Duffy did not attend court today, but that his lawyer formally entered his guilty plea on his behalf.

The death of Ms Roberts comes after ecstasy-related hospital admissions doubled in NSW from 2010 to 2015, while the NSW Government remains opposed to pill testing in any form despite a motion to remove sniffer dogs and introduce pill testing facilities at Australian music festivals recently passing the Senate.

Mr Duffy will next be expected to appear before a Newtown Local Court in December.
