Julia Zemiro And Sam Pang Won’t Be Hosting Eurovision Anymore

UPDATE 24/03/17: SBS‘ new Eurovision hosts have now been announced.

ORIGINAL STORY: Eurovision‘s telecast in Australia will be a little different this year with long time hosts Julia Zemiro and Sam Pang announcing that they will not be returning.

The pair have hosted Eurovision on SBS for eight years, starting back in 2009 in Russia. They’ve seen the weird, wild and wonderful, even witnessing Australia enter the competition back in 2015.

Their knowledge of Eurovision is unrivalled and competition devotees will miss their back-handed compliments and appropriate servings of sarcasm.

“Eight amazing years hosting Eurovision,” Julia Zemiro said in a statement.

“What a wonderful and hilarious ride. Growing up in a French household in Bondi Junction, I fell in love with this amazing contest ever since Abba won the competition. The languages, the characters, the songs and the sequins have always held a warm place in my heart.”

Pang added, “There are only so many sequins, burning pianos, power ballads and singing Russian grannies one man can celebrate in a career.”

SBS will usher in new hosts for 2017’s contest in Ukraine. It will also announce which artist will be competing on behalf of Australia in five days time.

In the meantime, check out a highlight reel of Zemiro and Pang’s hilarious times as hosts of Eurovision.
