Kanye West Was ‘Snubbed’ By The Grammys Again, And Fans Are Pissed

Kanye West nabbed five personal Grammy nominations this morning, as well as a handful of nods for producing credits and features, so with a haul like that you’d imagine his fans wouldn’t have too much to complain about? Well, turns out they do.

Yeezy picked up two noms for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, two for Best Rap Song and another for Best Rap Album, but his typically vocal fan base aren’t happy that he was ‘snubbed’ for the top gong — Best Album.

The Album Of The Year category will be hotly contested, with Adele, Beyoncé, Drake, Justin Bieber and Sturgill Simpson to go head-to-head, but Grammy’s Head Of Awards Bill Freimuth tells Complex that Kanye’s ‘snub’ has nothing to do with the unorthodox manner in which he updated and added to Life Of Pablo after its release.

Freimuth refuses to speculate whether West’s bizarre behaviour throughout the year affected Grammy voters, and says that voters are strongly encouraged to only vote on what they hear on the record.

“Kanye does have eight other nominations and we’re hoping that he’s not terribly upset for getting second only to Beyoncé,” Freimuth says.

That was never going to appease the hardcore Yeezy fans though, who are especially pissed that Justin Bieber was nominated for Album Of The Year over their beloved Kanye.

Yeezy has previously said he wouldn’t attend next year’s Grammys if his m8 Frank Ocean wasn’t nominated, and that’s looking even more likely now because neither of Ocean’s latest albums Blonde and Endless were even submitted for nomination.
