Written by Mike Solo on March 21, 2012

Australia’s biggest progressive rock act Karnivool have announced a massive Australian tour for July, their first in over a year.

The band will showcase new tunes from their forthcoming third album as well as playing tracks from their first 2 records Themata and Sound Awake.

Since Karnivool’s last Australian jaunt, the band has spent time writing and pursuing other projects – Jon Stockman recorded and toured with supergroup Floating Me whilst the band has also spent time shooting a new Karnivool DVD, featuring footage from their global ‘Sound Awake’ tour which included performing their biggest headline shows to date – to 10,000 fans at last year’s Lowlands Festival in the Netherlands and Mood Indigo festival in India.

Joining Karnivool on the Melodias Frescas tour are two of Australia’s most exciting bands. Victorian triple j ‘Next Crop’ rockers Redcoats with their epic single Dreamshaker and Sydney’s instrumental post-rock band sleepmakeswaves fresh from playing SXSW and touring both the USA and Europe.
