I Killed The Prom Queen Call Out “Crooked Promoter”, Consider Legal Action

I Killed The Prom Queen have today taken to Facebook to call out a man they accuse of being a “crooked promoter”, who they claim has left them more than $7000 out of pocket.

According to IKTPQ’s post, promoter Keiran Pittar was tasked with promoting the Toowoomba leg of the Rise Of Brotality tour back in November 2014. They alleged in this position, Pittar obtained the ticket funds from Oztix for the show, didn’t pay the band, and then disappeared.

The band also allege that right before he ceased all communication, he said: “I can’t pay you the money because I spent it all.”

IKTPQ were joined on the tour by In Hearts Wake, Bury Tomorrow, Hellions and The Ghost Inside. The Adelaide hardcore act also allege their fellow tour mates were also “ripped off”.

Prom Queen are leading the pack in terms of trying to track down Pittar, naming not just themselves or their tour mates, but also Perth’s Make Them Suffer, with whom they say Pittar toured with and “returned their rental equipment over a week late racking up a debt of hundreds of dollars.”

Prom Queen allege, “several other bands” including Pittar’s former outfit, Brisbane’s aptly named My Friend The Betrayer, have reached out to them claiming to have been left in similar circumstances. The post encourages others who have been ripped off by Pittar to come forward to help pursue legal action.

“It’s crooked promoters like this which end up affecting the shows you go to and the bands you want to see play,” say the band. “Band’s tour for a living and they only make money when fans pay for tickets and merchandise, and men like Keiran Pittar compromise that by stealing from bands and the fans. If you know anything about Keirans location, please alert us so we can pursue legal action.”
