Melbourne purveyors of psych-rock and fuzz, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, are about to release their new album Quarters, and have decided to launch the record by gathering a bunch of other bands for an epic new festival which they’ve dubbed Gizzfest.
Each day this week King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard will announce a special Gizzfest happening in Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane for what they have dubbed “their most ambitious and freaked out national headline tour yet.”
The first city to get their Gizzfest announcement is the band’s hometown of Melbourne. The Victorian Gizzfest will involve three shows of “multi-stage mayhem” to be held at the Corner Hotel this May in Richmond.
One show will be all-ages show and the other two 18+, and will feature another 28 bands (so far) who will help King Gizz launch their anticipated new record. Bands on board thus far include The Murlocs, The Babe Rainbow, Scott & Charlene’s Wedding, Davey Lane, Dreamin’ Wild and a bunch more “plus visuals and other stuff we haven’t worked out yet”.
