Kings Of Convenience Announce Melbourne Laneway 2013 Sideshow

The cats behind Laneway Festival have announced yet another sideshow to add to the long list of extra attractions to coincide with the festival. Norwegian indie folk identities Kings of Convenience have announced that they will be playing only 1 sideshow: at Melbourne’s Hamer Hall.

Previously labelled by Drowned In Sounds as “the Daft Punk of acoustic music”, creative partners in crime Erlend Øye (Also Whitest Boy Alive) and Eirik Glambek Bøe have transcended the confides of their genre, emerging as idols in the eyes of their massive international following. The pair released their debut Quiet Is the New Loud to introduce the world to their specially tailored minimalist sound, which is something the boys had refined to a fine art by 2009’s Declaration of Dependence.

In a live sitting, the duo becomes a full 5-piece band, maxing out the stage and delivering directly to fans an out-of-this-world experience. Despite the awkward charm of their music, the two are nothing if not absolute showmen, earning praise for their unexpected, yet hilarious banter.

So with only one show announced, everyone who isn’t from Melbourne must put KOC high on their list of bands to see at Laneway next year.
