Laneway 2013 Announcement Coming Next Week (Update)

The first media announcement for the St Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2013 event will be coming on 7th September according to the festival organisers, who tweeted out (below) the date this morning. Next year’s event returns to the five venues that have established the festival as one of the most unique events in the country. It should also continue its ongoing international expansion, returning for events in Auckland and Singapore.

Update: There will be no bands announced on the 7th September, we’ll be finding out dates, venues and other info on this day.

Rumours so far include New York-based experimental rock outfit Yeasayer, who spoke to triple j, revealing that they would be visiting us early next year. Also included in the rumours are Folk band Mount Eerie, who have Australian shows for January/February posted on their website, and other acts: Divine Fits, New Bomb Turks, Spoon and Wolf Parade.

Canadian rock duo Japandroids revealed loose plans to be in the country around the same time as the Laneway Festival, while other associated acts that seem to have the interest of the festival organisers at the moment include Purity Ring, Daughter, Haim, and Jessie Ware,

The Laneway Festival is about leading new and revered seminal music, and has always been interested in finding what’s fresh and great and bringing it to unique settings and surrounds to be appreciated by music lovers. Whoever ends up on the lineup, we’re sure we won’t disappointed.
