Lanie Lane has signed to Sydney based label Ivy League Records. She joins the likes of other local Sydney artists Cloud Control, Sparkadia, Josh Pyke and The Mess Hall.
Imbued with the spirit of Muddy Waters, and channelling the grit of Billie Holiday, Lanie Lane wraps the sounds of a golden age around a voice that is as rich and warm as it is sweet. Her delivery is distinct – earthy, with the elbow grease to get the job done, but tied up with a colourful ribbon and handed over with grace and charm.
The past 12 months have seen Lanie wing her way up from playing tiny venues to gracing magazine covers, and the ride is only set to continue as she gears up to release her debut album later this year.
We spoke the Lanie back in Janaury about her latest single What Do I Do aswell as how she approaches music as well as what to expect in the future.
