LISTEN: Against Me! – ‘Transgender Dysphoria Blues’

Incendiary Floridian punk rockers Against Me! have offered fans a chance to hear their latest album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues, by streaming it in its entirety via NPR. The album is the band’s first since frontwoman Laura Jane Grace (formerly Tom Gabel) came out as transgender.

The follow-up to 2010′s White Crosses is slated for release at the end of the month and serves as an autobiographical document of Grace’s experiences of conflict with gender identity, self-discovery, and ultimately tells a tale of love and acceptance, complete with those arresting vocals.

From the album’s opening line — “Your tells are so obvious / Shoulders too broad for a girl” — the listener is thrust into the passenger seat of Grace’s unique experiences. The album also features bass appearances from NOFX‘s Fat Mike on the tracks Unconditional Love and FUCKMYLIFE666.
