Listen: Daft Punk Release New Mix For Paris Fashion Week

The first sign of movement in some time from French gods Daft Punk has come today. The duo have released a 15-minute mix crafted specifically for Saint Laurent’s show at Paris Fashion Week, according to Pitchfork, further fuelling the anticipation behind the band’s forthcoming album.

But there’s good news and band news. The good news being that the mix, though short, is one of the coolest, smoothest things you’ll ever hear; the band news is that it’s a blues mix. So yeah…

At the request of designer Hedi Slimane, who was showcasing her spring/summer 2013 collections at the event, Daft Punk put together the tune by looping together a selection of tracks from Junior Kimbrough, the late blues legend. The news broke on the FYEAHDAFTPUNK tumblr and were thought to be just cheap rumours at first, but when it was discovered that the programs for the show stated “Music: Junior Kimbrough Edited by Daft Punk”, it became pretty clear what was up.

No one really knows what to believe about the hype surrounding the album, with word of collaborations coming through as well as dud tour rumours, and all that jazz.
