The returning No Doubt have undergone the remix treatment on their latest single Settle Down, and who better to handle the reigns than Diplo under his other moniker of Major Lazer. As noted by NME, Diplo helped produce the title track from No Doubt’s upcoming 6th studio album Push and Shove, due out September 25.
Now Diplo has reworked No Doubt’s first single in almost a decade. The original version of Settle Down garnered favourable comments from Antiquiet, who described the new single as a solid continuation from the band’s last record, 2001′s Rock Steady, while Diplo’s version makes things a bit more club friendly, as remixes often do.
As for Major Lazer, a new record will follow a couple months after No Doubt with Free the Universe set for release November 6 via Mad Decent/Downtown. The second Major Lazer record, which is now spearheaded by Diplo with Switch only occasionally helping out, will feature a diverse range of collaborators ranging from Vampire Weekend’s Ezra to Shaggy.
