Listen: Pond Cover Fremantle Dockers Theme Song

Reppin’ for their fellow Western Australians, Pond have unveiled a cover of the Fremantle Dockers theme song.

With a simple description of ‘FUTURE PREMIERS’, the cover has been uploaded to the SoundCloud account of guitarist Jay Watson, who poses under the alias ‘Wesley Goldtouch’. And it’s a pretty synthy, fuzzy affair, with vocals sounding like a cross between a monster and the chanting of a crowd at a metal concert.

The remix has appealed to some fans though, with user Bermund replying: “imagine this playing through the speakers at Patersons Stadium, would be huge”, while Falcon Randwick described it as “legendary”. On the band’s Facebook page – where the track has received just under 200 likes in two hours – user Kyle Edmonds reckoned the remix had “so much fuzz I think my hair went curly.”

As triple j reports, Watson is a huge fan of the Dockers, having previously worn a club scarf on stage while he was performing with his other band Tame Impala on US talk show Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
