Listen: Stream Empire of the Sun’s Brand-New Single ‘Alive’

Written by Marc Zanotti on April 15, 2013

Australian dance-pop shamans Empire Of The Sun have just released Alive, the first taste of their upcoming album Ice On The Dune. Debuted this afternoon on triple j, the track should be embraced by fans that up until now have only been teased by a series of puzzles, enigmatic trailers and cryptic clues.

The new singles has all of the trappings of Empire Of The Sun’s positive anthemic chants, already sounding like an old favourite with the unmistakable hallmarks of Nick Littlemore’s production rising around Luke Steele’s mystical voice.

Certainly, from the sounds of the band’s first single in over 3 years, it seems the wait for the follow-up to debut album Walking On A Dream will have be worthwhile. It looks as if this single’s already available on iTunes in the US, so Australia’s bound to follow soon. You can preorder Ice On The Dune from 16th April.

Ice On The Dune is due out Friday, 14th June, a fortnight after Empire Of the Sun headline Vivid Live 2013 at the Sydney Opera House on Thursday, 30th May and Friday, 31st May.
