LISTEN: The Horrors – ‘So Now You Know’

Following last month’s release of the shimmering, retro-tinged I See You, UK outfit The Horrors have now offered fans another taste of their forthcoming fourth studio album, Luminous, dubbed So Now You Know. Luminous is slated for release on Friday, 2nd May via XL Recordings / Remote Control.

“We’ve refined our sound, and in terms of songwriting it is the record I’m happiest with,” said frontman Faris Badwan of the new album. “It’s not so much about heavier guitars as a heavier potency… We want to make music you can dance to, music that elevates,” said bassist Rhys Webb.

Beginning with an overture of distorted, ethereal guitar noise, which is later joined by mellow synth sounds and a bouncy backbeat, So Now You Know continues the band’s journey as a sophisticated shoegaze outfit, a set of skills first apparent on their acclaimed 2009 album, Primary Colours.
