Looks Like There’s New Flume & RL Grime Collab On The Horizon

Sydney wonderkid Flume has become one of the most sought-after artists in music following the release of his huge 2016 album Skin, and now it looks like his next project could be alongside US producer RL Grime.

Having already worked on a track with Lorde and collaborated with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Vince Staples and Kucka on massive newy ‘Yeah Right’ in 2017, it apparently wouldn’t surprise RL Grime if the two got together soon to make new music.

RL Grime is in the country right now for Splendour In The Grass and a run of headline shows later this week. Speaking with triple j this morning, he indicated that any future collabs would now be made easier as Flume has made the move to Los Angeles recently.

“I’ve been good friends with him for a long time, four, five years now,” he said. “I hope we do something together soon. He just moved to L.A. and we’ve been chatting a bunch about working together, so hopefully.”

Before he arrived in the country, he teased just how amazing his and Flume’s music sounds when mixed together by uploading a live mashup of his own track ‘Aurora’ and Flume’s huge cut ‘Never Be Like You’.

RL also spoke about how bloody cold it was in Byron over the weekend, and that he didn’t deal with his first time there all that well. “That was my first time in Byron Bay. It was freezing, I was wearing six layers but by the end of the set I was just in a t-shirt because there was so much energy in that tent.”

If you missed out on his Splendour set, you can still catch him later this week in Adelaide, Sydney or Melbourne.
