Lorde Begins Work On Her New Album With Joel Little Next Month

Fans have been clamouring for an update on Lorde‘s much anticipated follow up to her hugely successful debut record Pure Heroine and now they have one, thanks to Lorde’s collaborator and producer Joel Little.

The New Zealand producer told triple j they are just weeks away from getting work started. “Within the next month or so we’ll be in the studio,” he said. “That’s the plan, basically. We’re just going to start writing some songs.

“We haven’t got some planned out [like] ‘this is what it’s going to sound like’,” he added. “I think we’re just going to start writing and when it starts to feel right, we’ll know that it’s right. It’s pretty simple really.”

In the last year Lorde has spent her time curating the Hunger Games: Mockingjay soundtrack, to which she contributed a number of songs, including Yellow Flicker Beat. Little, who produced Pure Heroine and nabbed a Grammy with Lorde for their songwriting skills on its single Royals, has also collaborated with Broods, and recently worked with Daniel Johns on his latest solo single Ariel Love.

Little said the year ahead should see new stuff from both Broods and Daniel Johns. He said he collaborated on two more track with Johns which will feature on Johns’ forthcoming Aerial Love EP, as well as another three songs which may find their way onto Johns’ debut solo album.

“I’ve finished another three, two of which I co-wrote and one he wrote with [Julian Hamilton of The Presets], who he wrote [Silverchair’s] Straight Lines with – I’ve just produced that,” said Little. “I don’t know what’s going to be on the record to be honest, I should keep track of my songs better…I love all the songs that we made, so I hope they’re on there.”
