M.I.A. Composes Music For WikiLeaks TV Series ‘The World Tomorrow’

Notorious Sri Lankan hip hop star M.I.A. has composed the music for the television series based on WikiLeaks founder Julian AssangeThe World Tomorrow – which debuts on American TV and online this weekend.

Wikileaks spokesperson Kristinn Hrafnsson confirmed M.I.A. met with Assange in London, where he’s currently under house arrest.

Twelve episodes of the series have already been filmed over the last two months, and according to Hrafnsson will feature “global notables” who “normally simply would not be given a voice on TV at all.”

M.I.A. has been a longtime supporter of Assange – releasing a mixtape in 2010 called Vicki Leekx.

She tweeted her excitement several times last night:

@MIAuniverse: watch> worldtomorrow.wikileaks.org !!!!!!!!

@MIAuniverse: Julian Assange borrowed my computer last week, I’m still FREAKING OUT !!!  worldtomorrow.wikileaks.org > MIA 4 #worldtomorrow
