M.I.A. Confirmed As First Act For Summadayze & Summafieldayze 2013

Written by Brayden Darke on September 12, 2012

M.I.A. has been revealed as the first act confirmed for Summadayze & Summafieldayze after a newspaper article written by a local newspaper, possibly on the Gold Coast, leaked her as the first act. Organisers Future Entertainment then posted a clipping of the article on their wall stating: “If you believe everything you read in all the national papers today it looks like M.I.A will be making an appearance at Summadayze and Summafieldayze !!!”

The official lineup will be released tomorrow, so it’s likely we might see a few publications jump the gun a little early. But a few leaks here and there won’t take too much energy away from the full announcement of acts, which organisers have described as “an inspired mix of synth-slingin’ young guns, fresh new blood and super-charged sets from certified global icons”.

Last year saw Snoop Dog, Pendulum, Scissor Sisters, Grandmaster Flash, and many more artists take to the stages to welcome in the new year with a bang. We also saw a California theme used for the events, which added a summer vibe to the festival’s feeling. Los Angeles-based pop culture guru Mark ‘The Cobrasnake’ Hunter is to curate the art direction and creative concept of this year’s Summadayze festivals,

His keen eye for aesthetics and distinct photographic style is instantly recognisable. His synergetic style is synonymous with cool and his uncanny knack for capturing the essence of youth culture has earned him the title of the most definitive photographer of hipster global trends to date. He’s shot campaigns for Nike, Blackberry, Playstation, Yahoo!, Sony, Virgin Mobile, and many more along the way.
