M.I.A. Sydney Show Announced – Summadayze/Summafieldayze Sidshows

Notorious English hip hop star M.I.A has announced a one off headline Sydney show while she is out here performing on the back of the Summadayze / Summafieldayze festivals early next year. She’ll playing this one and only sideshow on Friday the 4th of January.

Her latest single Bad Girls, which was produced by Danja (who’s worked with the likes of Timbaland, Diddy, Madonna, Nelly Furtado and Pink) has already enjoyed some success here in Australia. Her new album Matangi is also expected to drop this summer, making us possibly one of the first countries to have the chance to celebrate it’s release while we jump around and party to her new tunes live for the first time.

Since exploding on to the scene through 2005-2006 with her first full-length release, Kala, she’s become a household musical name, and also receiving the honour of being named as one of the ten defining artists of the 2000’s decade by Rolling Stone and one of the world’s 100 most influential people by Time magazine.

She’s also notched up two Grammy awards ( for tracks Paper Planes and Swagga Like Us), and been nominated for an Academy Award (for her song O…Saya from the soundtrack to the Hollywood blockbuster, Slumdog Millionaire). Not bad.

Don’t miss your chance to see her live when she hits our shores early next year.
