Madonna Is Now The Highest-Grossing Solo Touring Artist In The World

Madonna wrapped-up her Rebel Heart world tour this week in Sydney and casually banked $169.8 million on the tour, taking back her crown as the highest-grossing solo touring artist in Billboard‘s history.

Madge already had a huge total before she embarked on the tour but her total now stands at $1.31 billion. Her latest tour kicked off in September 2015 which means she banked all that coin in less than a year.

The top grossing show of the tour was the Saitama Super Arena in Tokyo where she sold out two shows and earned $9.6 million. In the US she also did pretty well making $5.2 million by playing two shows at Madison Square Gardens.

She first rose to the top in 2009 with her Sticky & Sweet tour but was surpassed by Bruce Springsteen while he was on his Wrecking Ball tour. Thanks to Rebel Heart she’s on the throne once again.

She’s still got two acts to surpass before she’s the highest grossing touring act, period, and they are U2 sitting at $1.67 billion and The Rolling Stones at $1.84 billion.
